Cookies, Web Beacons and Spotlight Tags
Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer's hard disc for record keeping purposes. Cookies can make the web more useful by storing information about your preferences on particular sites, thus enabling website owners to provide more useful features for their users. They contain no name or address information or any information that will enable anyone to contact you via telephone, e-mail or any other means. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you would prefer, you can set your browser to disable cookies or inform you when they are set. Information on how to disable cookies can be obtained by referring to either your Operating Systems Manual or your Browser Guide, or by contacting your Internet Service Provider. However, given that we may sometimes use cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of our website if you do disable them.

Our Internet Banking service uses session cookies to establish and maintain your banking session with us. With cookies enabled, you shouldn't notice any difference to the service. Internet Banking requires your web browser to accept a session cookie before you can log on or register for the service. Session cookies only exist until you close down your web browser, as opposed to permanent cookies which your browser stores until they expire. If your browser is set to disable cookies, you won't be able to access Personal Internet Banking.

Byblos Bank web pages may contain electronic images, known as web beacons or spotlight tags. These enable Byblos Bank to count users who have visited certain pages on our website. Web beacons and spotlight tags are not used by us to access your personal information; they are simply a tool we use to analyze which web pages customers view, in an aggregated manner.

Byblos Bank Security Provisions
BECAUSE WE VIEW SYSTEM SECURITY AS FUNDAMENTAL TO OUR SERVICE WE ARE CONSTANTLY REVIEWING AND DEVELOPING OUR PROCEDURES TO ENSURE MAXIMUM SECURITY IS PROVIDED

Listed below are some of the key security features we apply to our service
  • Unique log on details
The Log on process for Internet Banking is in two parts; the first part requests that you input your Internet Banking User ID, and whilst this page does not display the security padlock icon, you can be assured that this data is transmitted securely when you click 'Log on' or press 'enter'.
  • The second part of the process requests your password, which when combined with your User ID are unique to you. So whenever you access the service, entering these details safeguards your information against being accessed by anybody else.
    • Firewalls
Our systems are protected by sophisticated secure gateways, including 'firewalls' and monitoring devices which will prevent other, unauthorized internet users from accessing our computer system.
    • Scrambled information
The information sent and received is protected by strong data encryption that scrambles the message so that it can't be read by anyone else.
    • Visual reassurance
Each screen within the Internet Banking service includes the padlock symbol in the bottom right hand corner to indicate that you are in a secure service and that your information is being encrypted.
    • Time out facility
Once you have logged on to Internet Banking, after five minutes inactivity we will automatically end your session to help prevent unauthorized access.
  • Certain versions of both Netscape Navigator™ and Internet Explorer™ do not display the correct information due to a software fault in the browser.
