Byblos Bank S.A.L. became the first Lebanese bank to open a branch in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, on 16 May 2007, extending world-class services to both local and international companies and individuals. On 1 February 2010, Byblos Bank opened a main branch in Baghdad in order to serve clients in the national capital. On 12 March 2012, Byblos Bank opened its third Iraqi branch in Basra to extend its high-quality products and services to new clients in one of the country’s most important cities. On 9 December 2015, Byblos Bank opened a fourth branch in Iraq, and its second in the Kurdistan Region, in the city of Sulaymaniyah. Byblos Bank’s activities in Iraq comprise business and personal banking services, including transfers and trade finance (letters of credit, letters of guarantee, and documentary collections). In addition, Byblos Bank operates a referral business from other international banks. As with all Byblos Bank S.A.L. branches in Lebanon and abroad, the Iraq branches’ operations are centralized at the Group’s Head Office in Beirut and therefore benefit from all the experience, expertise, and state-of-the-art practices that our customers have come to expect.
